    • RE: Live Free and Ride

    • RE: New icons...

@Nick-Carthew @Arno-van-Lochem I sort of have to agree with OP, imho the current icons are too "busy" for my liking. The blue background is a bit too overwhelming. Making the background a bit more opaque/transparency at 40%, would improve readability a lot. Offcourse I can dream the icons and their location so for me it does not matter even if the icons were blacked out haha, but for new users I think the old designs make more sense. In the end an icon should make the message clear at first glance.:-)

I do however give kudos to the development team for taking the effort to better the icons. Definitely no hard feelings or criticism:-).

    • RE: searching for routes

@Andy-Welland Hi, you can find free routes in the RouteXperts library:
      e119858c-93e2-458f-a659-9c945ed343b5-image.png

Then scroll down and select Spain or zoom in on the map:

Zoom into the map and see the routes below which you can copy to your own account:

      Zoomed into Northern-Spain:

    • RE: General Frustration with MRA

@Greenham Hi Greenham, it seems you're not satisfied with MRA, far from it.

What I don't get is your problems or issues with the routes? You mention that making decent routes and getting them to you Garmin is troublesome? I don't get it since there are many users on this forum that so utilize Garmin devices and have no issues as for as I know.

Can you come up with examples or maybe even example routes that are causing you trouble?

By the way: MRA is a routeplanner which shall never facilitate all different specialty perks of hardware devices. Simply impossible to do so. What it does, is offer a platform for the user to create routes in 3 different routing algorithms (TomTom, Garmin and OSM). Go try that with Garmin Basecamp! 🙂

By the way: as for as I know, the shaping points and via points are now functioning for those GPS devices that use those! Note that only Garmin uses that functionality.

    • RE: General Frustration with MRA

@Greenham "If one of you fine experts..." left me speechless for a second.

Addressing people, who were all willing to help you out from the getgo, in such a cynical manner and still expecting them to aid further, is just childish man... That's not how adult conversations play out... at least, not where I come from. No need to insult.

Nevertheless, here is one On-Topic response:
I see you mention "dozens of routes you already made" and it seems that you expect them to have shaping and via points automatically (after the launch of this functionality), which simply is not correct. You shall edit every existing route, and change the regular waypoints to viapoints through the waypoint menu if you need viapoints in that specific route. (Click the ✋ icon in the waypoint menu per waypoint that shall become viapoint).

I cannot assist you any further regarding the actual Garmin stuff, but only with general MRA matters.

    • RE: How to route using a ferry?

@Erica-Goodwin You can place two waypoints, one at either side of the ferry crossing but set the furthest waypoint to Offroad/skip by clicking the car in the waypoint menu.

This shows the route as a straight line between the two waypoints and therefore navigation is temporarily disabled for navigation from wp1 to wp2.
      See the example below.

@pad-0 said in MRA Navigation and downloaded maps.:

I wonder is this another problem with the iOS app only , or do users of the Android version of Navigation experience it too?

Unfortunately I find the voice guidance being too late for my liking all the time, and sometimes like mentioned by @Mopetenpit extremely late on my Android OnePlus 6 as well! Like, turns being guided while already turning. Lol. I do however look at my screen considerable often to get a glimpse of the road curves ahead, so most of the time I find it not to be any practical problem, however, the app should just not have such quirks.

    • RE: Pictures in planned routes

@pad-0 Germany's motivation for the ban of GSV relates to their dark history also known as WWII and the DDR period where "enemies of the state" were tracked by the secret agencies, so to speak. The Germans never want to go back to a similar situation so the possible privacy violations that GSV can cause, are reasons for the GSV to be banned in advance.

A very good movie exists about this specific period of history: "Das Leben der Anderen." In which a secret officer that spies on a "enemy of the state" to eventually find out how he has been brainwashed and is confronted with the fact that he simply does not live a free mind.

@Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master In addition to your very welcome tips about the traffic overlay, I also check my routes in TomTom MyDrive for closures and or road work. After that I also import the route into a new Google MyMaps map to verify the route with Google Maps data as well.

Nice to see this kind of knowledge sharing. That's the strength of this forum 🕶

@sudolea I'm not sure, but simply assuming. I would however not expect the algorithm to be coming from MRA and only using the map data? In that case, the fault is at MRA hahah.

@steve-lynch I guess it's safe to conclude that we now know as well why the OSM is available free of charge and TomTom is not. That obviously comes at a price haha. The OSM algorithm kist seems to "suck" compared to Tom. 😁

Expanding waypoints is also a good way to go (and increases the effectivity of the compare feature)

This I would definitely always do! The segments are very nice to initially setup the route, but I feel the waypoints in the end should fix the route and not a segment algorithm. This just to be safe. I use MRA Navigation and therefore for me personally that is the only way, since segments are not supported in nav untill ??? 😄

    • RE: Segments, Silver and Season Challenge live!

@herko-ter-horst well, what about the following hypothesis:

Showing the route with segments using the OSM map underneath the to TomTom converted route which is automatically done when the user changes from OSM go TomTom in the Segmented route? Would this not be exactly what we need. The auto conversion does its best to keep both identical, but I would assume that if the original Segmented OSM route is shown through the "Routes and + " menu from the toolbar, we create the same "compare with" functionally as the toolkit inherently contains.

I don't have time to test it now. Would be very interesting though.
      Edit:

Just did a quick test and the above seems to work flawlessly.
I created a segmented route in OSM, converted it to a copy by selecting TomTom and then I've selevted the original Segmented route to be shown in the converted route. Now one can edit the waypoints in the converted route to be identical, if intended, to the Segmented OSM route.

    • RE: MyRoute-app : how can i disable recording

@timo-martosatiman-mra Just to point something out: My gut feeling tells me that all the people that leave Play Store or App Store reviews are NOT active on this forum, nor on Facebook. Therefore they are not familiar with what currently is going on with all the apps. 😄

I think that most people that start with MRA, start with the web browser, and not with the apps. The apps follow and then one gets adjusted quickly I think.

@timo-martosatiman-mra While I'm utterly impressed by the speed at which MRA pushed this update and am very happy with the latest update of the app, it somehow seems that the Upload Route/track functionality does not work on my Android OnePlus 6, Android 11.

No window appears after clicking "Bestanden selecteren" in the upload window.

Again: I am really impressed by the dev team of MRA. Never seen before! Great job people! Simply awesome! 😁

@stefanhummelink That is an excellent answer! Thanks for letting me know, feel free to send the recording to corjan@myrouteapp.com but I think I know what to do already.

Just to add something remarkable: it seems not directly related to the manage account part.
Without going to Manage Account, if I open the New Route once, it ends up on not logged in part. Going back and clicking New Route again, it somehow ends up in the logged on part. Hmmmm.

I'll sent the videos through WeTransfer 😄

    • RE: Bugs or "non-documented features" in new MRA Mobile app.

@corjan-meijerink I can send you a screen recording, since the behaviour is quite remarkable:

If I click Manage Account once, I'm not logged in into the website.
If I go back and click Manage Account AGAIN, it does have me logged in and after that, all menu buttons in the app bring me to a logged in version of the website.

Without having the Manage Account creating the "logged in" status, none of my buttons bring me to a logged in version of the website.

Hope that sort of makes sense.
I'll create a screen recording now and if you want, I can send it to ya.

@corjan-meijerink said in Bugs or "non-documented features" in new MRA Mobile app.:

It indeed seems that the lack of a back button when the browser is openend causes some confusion. I will make sure this is fixed in a new update. This will mainly concern Android users as iOS implements this completely different and does show the desired "back" button.

Nice to see a quick response like this. 😎

@StefanHummelink Editing routes is not possible yet. This is something we really would like in the future but hasn't been completed for this release. Similar to the previous Mobile app, it wasn't possible then. The "new route" functionality opens the routelab where you can immediately create a new route.

True, but still, I would really appreciate that functionality.😄

Regarding the being logged in issue, are you logged into the app? I will take a look at this right away.

Yes, I am logged in into the App itself.🙂
