might it be useful to also add a limit on the total number of hours for the day's journey, for example to avoid arriving after dark?

Thanks for the feedback Corjan.
I understood that the limit in the planner refers to driving hours, it’s explicitly stated, which is great.
My suggestion is slightly different: what if the planner could indicate the total duration of the daily trip, including stops?
For instance, if I have a deadline, like needing to arrive at my hotel within 6 Pm but my planned departure time and the distance to cover would result in an arrival time past 6 PM, the planner could trigger an alert.
This would let me know that I either need to leave earlier in the morning or plan for a shorter distance.
What do you think?

Stops you add on waypoints (a pause time) are not counted. In your example, 9:00 to 20:00 with two 2-hour stops counts as 7 hours of riding against your limit, not 11.
